Privacy Policy
Last Updated: April 13, 2025
Luvvitt LLC (“Luvvitt,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our websites, products, and services. It applies to information collected through:
- Our website luvvitt.com and any other online site or service controlled by Luvvitt that links to this Privacy Policy (collectively, the “Sites” or “Websites”).
- Our mobile or web applications, if any (collectively, the “App”).
- Our online e-commerce transactions and warranty/service plan registrations (e.g., the Luvvitt Screen Protection Plan portal; please note that the Plan is governed by its own Terms of Service).
- Our social media pages and communications with you (emails, customer support, etc.).
- Offline contacts (such as phone support or events) related to our products and services.
By accessing or using our Services (defined below) or by otherwise providing us with personal information, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services or provide personal data.
1. Scope of this Policy
This Privacy Policy covers the “Services,” which means collectively the Luvvitt Websites, Apps, social media pages, emails, and offline interactions described above. It addresses how we handle information from customers, site visitors, and any other users of our Services.
It does not cover any third-party services or websites that are not under our control, even if we link to them (see Section 7 below for third-party links).
If you provide us with personal information about someone else, you represent that you have that individual’s permission or authority to do so.
2. Information We Collect
We may collect two main types of information: Personal Information and Non-Personal Information.
Personal Information is information that identifies you or relates to an identifiable person. We collect various categories of personal information, including:
- Contact Information: Such as your name, email address, mailing address, and phone number. For example, when you place an order or sign up for an account or newsletter, we collect this information.
- Account Credentials: If you create an account, we collect a username, password, or other login ID.
- Payment Information: If you make a purchase, we (or our third-party payment processors) collect payment details like credit/debit card number, expiration date, and billing address. (Note: We generally use secure third-party payment services and do not store your full card number on our systems.)
- Device and Order Details: If you register a product or service plan, we collect information about your device (e.g., device type, serial/IMEI, purchase date, retailer) and the product purchased (for example, the Liquid Glass protector SKU).
- Customer Support Information: If you contact us for support or with a question, we may collect information related to your inquiry, such as the content of emails or chat communications, and any contact information you provide.
- Identifiers: Unique identifiers like your IP address or device ID, which may be considered personal information in some jurisdictions.
- Demographics (Optional): We might ask for demographic info like age, gender, or preferences (e.g., when you fill out a survey). Providing these is usually optional and used for internal insights.
Non-Personal Information includes data that by itself does not identify a specific person. We collect usage data when you interact with our Services, such as:
- Browsing Information: Details about your visits to our Sites (pages viewed, links clicked, time and date of visit, and referring URL that led you to us).
- Device Information: Technical information about your device and internet connection, including your IP address, browser type, device type (desktop vs. mobile), operating system, and device model.
- Analytics Data: We use analytics tools (like Google Analytics) that collect information about usage and performance of our Sites. This may include actions like mouse clicks, scrolling, and search queries on our Sites.
- Cookies and Similar Technologies: We (and service providers acting on our behalf) use cookies, web beacons, pixels, and other tracking technologies to collect information about your usage and to recognize you across different Services and devices. (See Section 5 on Cookies & Tracking for details.)
Sensitive Personal Information: We do not seek to collect sensitive personal data (such as Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, financial account passwords, health or biometric data, etc.) through our standard Services. Please do not provide such information unless specifically requested. If sensitive data is required for a particular service or claim (in rare cases), we will handle it securely.
3. How We Collect Information
We collect information in several ways:
- Directly from You: You provide information directly when you:
- Make a purchase or place an order on our Website.
- Create an account or register a product/service plan.
- Subscribe to a newsletter or request marketing communications.
- Fill out a form (such as a contact form, warranty registration card, or sweepstakes entry).
- Contact customer support via email, phone, or chat.
- Post a review, comment, or other user content on our Sites or social media pages (note that any information you post publicly may be viewed by others).
- Automatically: As you navigate and interact with our Websites or App, we (or authorized third parties) automatically collect usage and device data via cookies, server logs, and other tracking technologies. For example, our server logs may record your IP address and browsing actions, and analytics scripts might track pages you view.
- From Business Partners: We might receive information from third parties with whom we do business. For example:
- If you purchase a Luvvitt product through a marketplace (like Amazon) or another retailer, that company might provide us some details about the sale so we can honor warranties or support requests.
- If you log in to our site through a social media account (using Facebook Login, Google Sign-In, etc.), we receive your name and email from that service (per their login authorization).
- Marketing partners or ad networks may provide us with aggregate or de-identified information about how our ads performed or about users’ interests.
- From Service Plan Administration: If you use our screen protection coverage program, we collect information during claims (such as device damage descriptions, photos you upload, repair invoices). We may also receive information from our insurance/administrator partners related to your claim or policy.
4. How We Use Your Information
We use personal information for various legitimate business purposes, including:
- To Fulfill Orders and Provide Services:
- Process and ship your orders, and provide order confirmations and invoices.
- Register your products or service plans, and provide coverage benefits (such as processing a screen repair claim).
- Process payments and prevent transactional fraud.
- Provide the App’s functionality if you use an application (e.g., syncing data or logging you in).
- Customer Service:
- Respond to your inquiries, requests, or complaints (for example, if you email support or use live chat, we’ll use your info to assist you).
- Provide technical support or troubleshooting for any issues you encounter.
- Communication:
- Send administrative emails or messages, such as order confirmations, shipping notifications, changes to terms, or important security/privacy updates.
- Send you information about products or services that you have requested or that you might be entitled to (such as instructions to register your coverage or notification of a recall or service program).
- Marketing (With Consent or As Permitted):
- Send promotional communications about new products, special offers, or other news about Luvvitt products and services that we think may interest you. This may be via email newsletters or targeted online ads. (You can opt out of marketing emails at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link or contacting us.)
- Show you advertisements on our Site or on third-party sites. For example, we might use your browsing history on our Site to show you ads for Luvvitt products as you browse the web (often done through cookies and trackers – see Section 5).
- Conduct contests, sweepstakes, or surveys, and communicate with you about entries or results.
- Personalization:
- Customize and improve your experience on our Sites – for instance, remembering your preferences, showing you products that are likely relevant, or greeting you by name if you’re logged in.
- Use analytics to understand user behavior and preferences in order to improve our content and product offerings.
- Business Operations and Improvements:
- Analyze usage trends and statistics to improve our Websites, products, and services. (For example, understanding which pages are most popular or where users drop off in the purchase process helps us optimize our user interface.)
- Develop new products or features based on research and customer feedback.
- Debug and fix errors in our systems and Services.
- Legal and Security:
- Protect the security and integrity of our Sites, IT systems, and users. This includes detecting and preventing fraud, unauthorized access, and other misuse.
- Enforce our Terms of Use and other agreements.
- Comply with applicable laws, regulations, legal processes, or enforceable governmental requests (for example, responding to a subpoena or law enforcement request; keeping required records of transactions; honoring opt-out requests).
- Establish, exercise, or defend legal claims if necessary.
We will only use your personal information for the purposes for which it was collected (or closely related purposes), unless we obtain your consent or as otherwise required or permitted by law.
5. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies to collect information and enhance your experience. Here’s an overview:
- What Are Cookies: Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They allow the site to remember your actions or preferences over time.
- Types of Cookies We Use:
- Essential Cookies: These are necessary for the site to function properly. For example, they keep you logged in during a session or remember what’s in your shopping cart. You cannot opt out of essential cookies, as the site won’t work without them.
- Analytics Cookies: These help us understand how visitors use our site. We use services like Google Analytics, which set cookies to collect usage data (pages visited, time spent, etc.). This information is aggregated and not directly identifying to you. It helps us improve site performance and design.
- Functional Cookies: These remember your preferences to provide enhanced, more personalized features. For instance, a functional cookie might remember your language selection or the region you are in.
- Advertising/Targeting Cookies: These cookies track your browsing habits to deliver personalized ads relevant to you. They may be set by us or by third-party advertising partners. For example, we might partner with ad networks like Google Ads or use the Facebook Pixel to show you Luvvitt ads on other websites you visit, based on your interaction with our Site.
- Managing Cookies:
- Browser Settings: Most web browsers allow you to control cookies through their settings (for example, you can typically block or delete cookies). However, if you disable all cookies, parts of our Site may not function correctly (e.g., you might not be able to add items to your cart or log in).
- Opt-Out Tools: To specifically opt out of Google Analytics, you can install Google’s opt-out browser add-on. For interest-based advertising cookies, you can visit industry opt-out pages such as the Network Advertising Initiative or the Digital Advertising Alliance websites. On mobile apps, you can usually limit ad tracking via your device settings.
- Cookie Banner & Preferences: Where required by law (like in the EU), our Site will display a cookie consent banner for you to accept or manage cookies when you first visit. You can adjust your cookie preferences at any time through our Cookie Preference center (via the link on our website).
- Other Tracking Technologies: In addition to cookies, we may use pixel tags (tiny graphics embedded in pages or emails) which tell us whether you’ve interacted with specific content (for example, whether you opened an email newsletter). We might also use local storage (similar to cookies) for certain features. These technologies often work in conjunction with cookies.
- Do Not Track: Some browsers have “Do Not Track” (DNT) signals. At this time, our Sites do not respond differently to DNT signals. We treat all users’ data according to this Privacy Policy, regardless of DNT status, due to the lack of an industry standard.
6. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information to third parties for money. However, we do share certain information with third parties for business or legal purposes, as described here:
·
- Payment processors: (e.g., Stripe, PayPal) to securely handle credit card transactions.
- Shipping partners: (e.g., UPS, FedEx, Amazon FBA) to deliver orders. They receive shipping information and contact details to fulfill delivery.
- Website and IT support: Hosts for our website, cloud storage providers, database services, and email service providers (for sending newsletters or support emails). They may process personal data as needed for hosting, data storage, or email delivery.
- Analytics and Advertising partners: Companies like Google Analytics and Meta (Facebook) that help us with website analytics and ad targeting, or marketing platforms that help manage email campaigns or ads. These providers may receive info like cookie identifiers and site usage data (but not your payment information).
- Customer support tools: Platforms we use for managing support inquiries (such as a CRM or helpdesk like Zendesk). Your contact info and support history might pass through these systems for ticketing and response.
- Plan administrators/insurers: If you participate in our Screen Protection Plan, we share necessary information with our plan administrator or insurance partner solely to administer your coverage and process your claims.
Service Providers: We employ trusted third-party companies to perform functions on our behalf. These include:
- These service providers are given access only to the information necessary to perform their tasks, and they are contractually bound to protect your information and use it only for the purposes we specify.
- Affiliates: We may share information with our affiliate companies or brands under common ownership (for instance, if Luvvitt LLC has any subsidiaries or sister brands) for purposes consistent with this Privacy Policy, such as centralized customer data management or marketing coordination. Any affiliated entity will also be required to protect that information.
- Business Partners: In some cases, we may partner with other companies to offer co-branded products or services (e.g., a bundle with another brand’s product, or a joint promotion). If you engage with these offerings, information may be shared with that partner to facilitate the service or promotion. We will make clear at the time of collection if a partner is involved in collecting or receiving your information.
·
- Comply with a legal obligation, such as a subpoena, court order, or regulatory request.
- Protect our rights, property, or safety, or that of our customers, our employees, or the public. This includes exchanging information with other companies and organizations for fraud protection and credit risk reduction.
- Investigate or enforce violations of our Terms of Use or other agreements, or to detect and prevent fraud or security issues.
Legal Compliance and Protection: We may disclose personal information as required by law or in the good-faith belief that such action is necessary to:
- In the Event of a Transaction: If Luvvitt is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing due diligence, reorganization, bankruptcy, receivership, sale of company assets, or a transition of service to another provider, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We would ensure the new owner or successor entity is bound to the same commitments for privacy (or we would notify you and obtain your consent if required by law).
- With Your Consent: Aside from the cases above, if we want to share your personal information with third parties for other purposes, we will seek your consent. For example, if we ever wanted to post a customer testimonial that includes personal info, we would ask for your permission. Or if you opt in to a program where your information is shared (say, referring you to an insurance partner for additional coverage beyond our Plan), we would do so only with your consent.
- Sharing of Non-Personal or Aggregate Data: We may share aggregated, anonymized data with third parties (such as statistics about how many users use a certain feature, or a general demographic breakdown of our customer base). This data will not identify individual users.
7. Third-Party Links and Services
Our Services may contain links to third-party websites, plug-ins, or services that are not operated by Luvvitt. For example:
- Our site might link to a blog or article reviewing our product, or to our listings on Amazon or other online retailers.
- We might integrate social media widgets (like a Facebook “Like” button or an Instagram feed) that collect your IP address and may set their own cookies.
- We could offer the option to pay via Apple Pay or Google Pay, which will direct you through those providers’ payment workflows.
Please note: This Privacy Policy does not apply to third-party websites or services. Once you leave our Sites or interact with a third-party feature, those providers’ terms and privacy policies will apply. We have no control over, and are not responsible for, the content, privacy practices, or conduct of any linked third-party websites or services.
We encourage you to review the privacy policies of every site you visit or service you use that is not controlled by us.
8. Data Security
We take data security seriously and use reasonable measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, use, alteration, and disclosure. These measures include:
- Encryption: Sensitive data (like payment information) is transmitted over HTTPS with TLS encryption. Our payment processors are PCI-DSS compliant.
- Access Controls: Personal information is stored on secure servers. We limit access to your personal data to only those employees, contractors, and service providers who need to know it for their roles, and they are subject to confidentiality obligations.
- Security Tools: We employ firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and anti-virus scanning on our systems to guard against external threats. Administrative access to systems requires authentication.
- Training: Our staff is trained on privacy and security practices to ensure they handle your data safely and respectfully.
- Monitoring: We monitor our systems for potential vulnerabilities and attacks, and we regularly assess and update our security practices.
However, no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. Therefore, while we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security. You should also take precautions — for example, choose a strong password for your account and do not share it.
If you have reason to believe that your interaction with us is no longer secure (for instance, if you suspect your account has been compromised), please contact us immediately (see Section 12 for how to contact us).
9. Data Retention
We retain personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which we collected it, including to satisfy any legal, accounting, or reporting requirements. For example:
- Customer and Order Data: We keep records of your purchases and registrations for at least the warranty/service plan period, plus any additional retention required by law (e.g., some jurisdictions require keeping transaction records for a number of years for tax or regulatory purposes).
- Account Information: If you have an account with us, we retain your account data while your account is active. If you request deletion of your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal information, except for any data we are required or permitted to retain by law (for example, records of transactions linked to that account).
- Marketing Data: If you have signed up for our newsletter or agreed to receive marketing communications, we retain your contact information for that purpose until you opt out. If you opt out, we may keep a record of your email to ensure we honor your opt-out going forward.
- Web Analytics: Analytics providers like Google may retain site usage data and reports for a certain period. (For instance, we configure Google Analytics to retain user-level and event data for 14 months, after which it is deleted.)
- Claims and Support: Information related to warranty or insurance claims, customer support tickets, or disputes may be retained as long as needed to resolve the issue and for a reasonable period thereafter in case of legal claims or audits.
When we have no ongoing legitimate need or legal obligation to process your personal information, we will either delete it or anonymize it so it can no longer be associated with you. If deletion or anonymization is not feasible (for example, because the data is stored in backup archives), then we will securely store the data and isolate it from any further use until deletion is possible.
10. Children’s Privacy
Our Services are not directed to children under the age of 13 (and in certain jurisdictions, under 16). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are under 13, please do not use our Sites or provide any information to us.
If we learn that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under 13 (or the relevant minimum age in your jurisdiction) without proper consent, we will promptly delete that information. If you are a parent or guardian and believe we might have collected information from your child, please contact us immediately so we can investigate and address the issue.
11. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information. We strive to honor these rights and provide you with control over your data.
For All Users:
- Updating Information: If you have an account, you can log in and update certain personal details (like your contact information or password) in your profile settings. For any other updates or corrections, please contact us. We will correct any inaccurate or incomplete information upon request.
- Marketing Opt-Out: You can opt out of marketing emails by clicking the “unsubscribe” link in any promotional email we send. Note that even if you opt out of marketing communications, we may still send you transactional or administrative emails (such as order confirmations or customer service messages).
- Cookie Controls: As described in Section 5, you can manage cookies via your browser settings and use opt-out tools for certain trackers. You can also adjust your cookie preferences through our website’s Cookie Preference link at any time.
California Residents (CCPA/CPRA): If you are a California resident, you have specific privacy rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA). These include:
- Right to Know: You can request information about what personal information we have collected, used, disclosed, or sold about you in the past 12 months. This includes the categories of information, the sources of that information, the business or commercial purposes for collection, and the categories of third parties with whom we share information.
- Right to Access: You can request a copy of the specific pieces of personal information we have about you.
- Right to Delete: You can request that we delete personal information we have collected from you, subject to certain exceptions (for example, we may retain information needed to complete a transaction you initiated, for security purposes, for legal compliance, etc.).
- Right to Correct: You can request correction of inaccurate personal information that we maintain about you.
- Right to Opt-Out of Sale/Sharing: We do not sell personal data for money. However, CCPA/CPRA define “sell” and “share” broadly to include certain data sharing for advertising purposes. If we engage in data sharing that is considered a “sale” or “sharing” of data (for cross-context behavioral advertising), you have the right to opt out. To exercise this right, you may click the “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” link on our website (or contact us using the information below).
- Right to Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights. This means, for example, we will not deny you service, charge you a different price, or provide a different level or quality of products/services just because you exercised your privacy rights.
To exercise any of these California rights, you (or your authorized agent) may contact us as described in Section 12 (Contact Us). We will need to verify your identity (for example, by confirming information we already have on file or asking for details about your past interactions with us) before fulfilling your request. For deletion requests, we may ask you to confirm separately that you want your data deleted. California residents also have the right to request information about our disclosure of certain categories of personal information to third parties for their direct marketing purposes (California’s “Shine the Light” law). Please note that we do not share personal information with third parties for their own direct marketing use without your consent.
Nevada Residents: Nevada law allows customers to opt out of the sale of certain personal information. As noted above, we do not currently sell personal information for monetary consideration. If that ever changes, we will update this Privacy Policy and honor opt-out requests. Nevada residents can still send an opt-out request to our contact listed in Section 12, and we will record your request in the event our practices change.
EU/EEA Residents (GDPR): While our primary market is the U.S., if you are in the European Union, European Economic Area, or a similar jurisdiction with GDPR-style data protection laws, you may have the following rights (to the extent applicable):
- Right of Access, Rectification, Erasure, Restriction, Objection, and Portability: These rights are similar to those described above for California residents (access to data, correction, deletion, etc.).
- Right to Withdraw Consent: If we rely on consent as the legal basis for processing your information (we usually rely on other lawful bases like contract performance or legitimate interests, but if consent is used), you can withdraw that consent at any time.
- Right to Lodge a Complaint: You have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority in your country if you believe we have violated your data rights.
If you are outside the U.S. and choose to use our Services and provide personal data, please note that your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States. The U.S. may not have the same level of data protection as your home country, but we will take appropriate measures to ensure lawful transfer of your data (for example, using standard contractual clauses where appropriate). By using our Services, you consent to the transfer of your information to the U.S. as described in this Privacy Policy.
